Meet the Director

Commencing in 1972, the first part of Alan’s career comprised a successful and productive twelve years of service in the IT Industry, covering IT systems development and IT management. In 1984, Alan commenced a thirteen year career in providing recruitment and contract placement of IT professionals as the founder and CEO of the TriStar Recruitment Group. Alan and TriStar provided a range of permanent and contract recruitment services to a many of Australia’s largest organizations including Telstra, Australia Post, numerous large banks, and insurance companies, IT Vendors and many other large Australian organisations.

At the same time as maintaining a “hands-on” involvement in providing recruitment and placement services to Australian business, Alan built and led a very strong national recruitment business that, by 1997, employed over 75 staff in Melbourne and Sydney, and had combined annual revenue of over $45million. Alan is still very involved in the world of Information Technology having maintained a keen involvement and high-level knowledge of the developments in the IT and Telecommunications industry over the past 20 years.

Alan has excellent leadership skills and a very high level of entrepreneurial ability, and has studied the art and science of organizational development over the last twelve years. Alan is an experienced business builder who has first-hand experience in leading organizations through discontinuous change. He combines a passion for people with a love of client development, technology, information systems, business development and sales. Alan is a natural teacher and mentor and has a very strong track record in developing a large number of protégés who are now leaders in the Melbourne IT recruitment and HR industry.

One of the highlights of Alan’s career was the recognition of TriStar as a market leader and as a winner of a 1996 Telstra SOE/Supplier Excellence Award in recognition for the “added value” provided by TriStar in the course of providing a range of recruitment services including the provision of contract IT consultants to Telstra.
